eBooks FAQ

 

  1. Where do I go to find and borrow library eBooks?
    Go to the Digital Media Catalog website at http://digital.minlib.net and browse or search for titles.

  2. What eBook readers can I use to read the library's eBooks?
    Our eBooks are compatible with most eReaders, tablets and computers. For details please go to http://help.overdrive.com.

  3. What do I need to check out an eBook?
    You need your library card number and PIN, which are the same as your regular library account. If you know your library card number, but have forgotten your PIN, you can have your PIN reset at the library or here.

  4. Do you have step by step instructions on how to download a ebook?
    We do! We have printed instructions, which are also available below:

  5. How do I get the app for my tablet or smartphone?
    You need your library card number and PIN, which are the same as your regular library account. If you know your library card number, but have forgotten your PIN, you can reset your PIN here.

  6. How many eBooks can I have out at a time?
    You can have up to 10 items out at a time. You can also have up to 7 requests in at a time.

  7. How long can I borrow eBooks for?
    eBooks can be borrowed for 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days. You can select the loan period when you are checking the eBook out.

  8. Why do you recommend signing into my account before I start searching?
    We recommend signing into your account first so you can see titles we have purchase just for our patrons and it makes the check out process smoother.

  9. How do I find an eBook that I can checkout now?
    In the upper right hand corner of the book jacket there is a book icon. If it is black you can check it now, if it is grey you will need to place a request on it. Also, look for a button that reads “Show me only titles with copies available."

  10. How do I see what eBooks I have checked out or what eBooks I have requested?
    Go to http://digital.minlib.net and click "Account" towards the upper right corner of the screen.

  11. What happens when the loan period on the eBook ends?
    It will just stop working, you do not need to return it and there are never any late fees.

  12. How do I return an eBook early?
    -To return a Kindle ebook, sign into your Amazon account, click "Manage My Kindle", then from the "Actions" menu next to the book you want to return, select "Return this book".
    -If you downloaded a book through Adobe Digital Editions, right click on the book jacket for the return option
    -If you downloaded a book via the Overdrive Media Console app, you can return the book via the app

  13. How can I get more help?
    -Go to http://overdrive.minlib.net/

    -Call the Library's Reference Desk at 508-532-5570 x4361or submit a question at www.mln.lib.ma.us/catalog/overdrive_help.htm.

    -Come to our Drop-in Device Advice, running Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm-9pm.
