Framingham Public Library Foundation, Inc.

49 Lexington Street  • Framingham, MA  01702    508-532-5570  ext. 4358

Background

The Framingham Public Library Foundation was created in 2010 as a way to provide funding for projects and initiatives that complement, but do not supplant, the Town of Framingham’s financial responsibility for the operation of the library system. Examples of projects that may be funded by the FPL Foundation include building renovations, capital projects, and special programs.

The FPL Foundation is governed by Board of Directors: The Board includes Jo-Anne Thompson, Ruth Winett, Nancy Coville-Wallace, Liz Fideler, Grace Corrigan, Jason Smith, Tim Sullivan, and Michael Gatlin.

Goals of the FPL Foundation

The long-term goal of the FPL Foundation is to build an endowment for the Framingham Public Library system, to help provide materials, programs and facilities that enrich the cultural fabric of the Town of Framingham and the quality of life of its residents. Donors can contribute in several ways: Annual Appeals, Memorial Gifts, direct donations, and bequests.

The Foundation and the McAuliffe Project

The FPL Foundation is raising funds to assist the new McAuliffe Library project. The Foundation’s fundraising committee, chaired by Jason Smith, is soliciting donations from corporations and individuals with the goal of providing additional funds for the project beyond what the State grant and town funding may provide. The Foundation will sponsor many giving activities, from naming opportunities for major donors, to “Buy a Brick” and fundraising events.

The Foundation hopes to involve all of the community in this project, at all levels of participation. The State grant will provide up to 50% of the building cost; funds raised by the Foundation will reduce the amount of town funding required for this project.
