Grant Announcement Puts Framingham #6 on the Construction Grant Waiting list of 15 Libraries

Where Are We Now?

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners announced the status of the twenty-eight libraries that completed the grant round process. Through a rigorous review process, eight projects have been awarded provisional grants and fifteen projects have been placed on a waiting list, five libraries may re-submit their proposals.  Framingham Public Library (McAuliffe Branch) project has been placed #6 on the waiting list.

So What Happens Next?

The Library will continue to raise funds to build the new McAuliffe Library. For the next couple of years we will work to correct existing problems at the Main Library. We will be ready when funding becomes available to come to Town Meeting to request that the town fund its share of the cost of the new McAuliffe Library.

How Will Framingham Benefit?

The new McAuliffe Branch Library will provide a larger children’s room, dedicated space for young adults, more public computers, outlets for laptops, a meeting room, study rooms, comfortable reading chairs, easy to reach shelves, an ADA compliant building, green LEED certified building, and no increase in staffing.

Build the New McAuliffe Library and Open the Door to Tomorrow

The Library Foundation will continue to raise funds to offset the cost of building the new Branch.  Visit this website frequently for new information, to donate, or to make it happen.
