Library Volunteer Options 

  • Shelf reading the library collection. See the Volunteer Application Page for details.

  • Tutor adults in literacy and English as a Second Language through the Literacy Unlimited program. Send an email to fplmail4@minlib.net to place your name on a potential tutor list or call 508-532-5574.

  • Work on the Friends of the Framingham Library’s monthly booksale

    Young Adult Reading Advisor

    Do you have a passion for reading all kinds of young adult fiction? The Young Adult Librarian of the Framingham Public Library is looking for a high school intern who can advise her on expanding the young adult fiction collection, creating booklists on various subjects, and creating and maintaining book displays in the YA area.

    Qualifications: High school student in Framingham who is a voracious reader of all kinds of young adult fiction – beyond the Harry Potter and The Hunger Games series. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and/or Publisher desired. Interest in teen pop culture a plus!

    Duties:
    • Assist the YA Librarian in choosing new books and placing orders
    • Create booklists in print and online format
    • Brainstorm ideas for book displays and create and maintain the displays
    • Shelf read (make sure books are in order on the shelves)

    Hours:
    Two hours per week, flexible schedule

  • Special Volunteer Position at Framingham Public Library!

    Manga, Graphic Novel, and Gaming Advisor

    Do you have a passion for reading manga and graphic novels? Interested in gaming? The Young Adult Librarian of the Framingham Public Library is looking for a high school intern who can advise her on updating the manga and graphic novel collection in the young adult area and help build a gaming collection from scratch.

    Qualifications: High school student in Framingham who is a voracious reader of manga and/or graphic novels. Knowledge of a wide range of games on Wii, xBox 360, and other platforms. Interest in animé desired. Ability to communicate clearly and patiently is a must.

    Duties:
    • Assist the YA Librarian in choosing new materials in the categories listed above and placing orders
    • Shelf read (make sure books are in order on the shelves)

    Two hours per week, flexible schedule
